Global research agency Ipsos has hired former Kantar IMRB executive Vivek Gupta as managing director to head its Mumbai business. Gupta will report directly to Ipsos India CEO Amit Adarkar.
Gupta’s role will focus on managing and growing Mumbai based client relationships. He will also be involved in strategy formulation and implementation for other geographies. “Gupta will be going after new accounts and servicing existing large accounts,” says Amit Adarkar, CEO, Ipsos India.
“Business potential is huge and lies under-tapped across our expertise areas of brand health tracking, customer experience, quantitative, shopper behavior, product testing, market strategy and understanding, public affairs, corporate reputation, qualitative, ethnography, field and tab, among others. Gupta has a huge task cut out for Mumbai market,” adds Adarkar.
Gupta sees his role as an opportunity for leveraging his experience of over twenty-five years in the market research industry. “Ipsos is already a well-entrenched player and growing much faster than the industry. I see myself as a mercenary salesman pitching for large accounts and opportunities, to spur growth in Mumbai market, which accounts for 40 per cent of revenue for Ipsos,” says Gupta.
Gupta joins with more than two and a half decades of experience across the industry. He spent the past 22 years at IMRB, latterly as Chief Sales Officer & Senior Executive Director, having joined in 1996 as Research Director. Prior to this, he worked at TNS, MODE, DDB Mudra Communications, and O&M.
