Tokyo-based online specialist Macromill has announced the opening of a new office in Singapore, and it has appointed former Millward Brown exec Rob Valsler as Managing Director. He will lead the Southeast Asian team to provide direct, local insights for global brands.
Nielsen and Concentric, a leader in agent based simulation technology for marketing, has announced a global strategic alliance to bring a new system for brand and media planning to Nielsen clients. The alliance matches Concentric’s agent-based simulation technology with Nielsen’s massive data assets and expertise, to help optimise clients’ ad campaigns.
Labbrand, a leading China-originated brand consultancy, announced its expansion into Europe and the launch of its Paris office. First established in Shanghai in 2005 in the city’s M50 Creative Industries Park, the company has evolved from a brand naming and MR company to a full-service brand consultancy with in-house research, strategy, and creative capabilities.
Mobile analytics firm App Annie has opened a new office in Singapore. The company said the move was due to the flourishing and fast-growing mobile market in India and Southeast Asia. It claimed the INSEA and ANZ regions were almost as large as China, Japan and South Korea combined in terms of number of iOS and Google Play app downloads in Q4 2014. The new office in Singapore will open in April with a team of ten employees.
California-based technology company Neudesic has opened a Center of Excellence in Bangalore, India, designed to enhance the company’s delivery of enterprise solutions that maximize the benefits of Big Data, mobility, cloud and the Internet of Things. The new 22,000 square-foot facility in Bangalore has been opened to help the firm further incorporate the technologies of its partners Microsoft, Tableau and Xamarin. Neudesic aims to ultimately bring several centers under one roof, with experts in a wide range of business disciplines.
Asia’s premier market research solution platform provider GMO Research, Inc has agreed to a strategic panel alliance with a Japanese medical research panel specialist, MedPeer, Inc. MedPeer is an online community site, whose members comprise nearly a quarter of the domestic physician population of Japan. GMO Research aims to expand online medical survey share in Asia, by strengthening the Japanese physician panel through this alliance.

Sampling, data collection and analytics firm SSI has announced the successful acquisition of the majority of assets of MRops, an industry-leading provider of end-to-end market research operations services to management consulting firms and market research agencies. Under the terms of the agreement, MRops’ 200 employees will become SSI employees working under the SSI brand. Clients of both entities will see a single, expanded SSI going forward with no disruption in service and greater immediate value from the combined company.
Research technology and services group FocusVision has acquired Melbourne, Australia-based Insight Marketing Systems, creator of the leading research management technology platform, ResearchReporter. ResearchReporter is an award winning SAAS platform that provides an integrated approach to putting market research at the heart of decision-making, improving the quality and efficiency of research processes, and pro-actively managing research resources. This new acquisition, together with FocusVision’s recent acquisition of quantitative technology firm Decipher and qualitative technology firm Revelation, brings the marketplace an even more complete solution for market research practices.
Leading online research and survey technology provider, Toluna, has appointed Ludovic Milet as Managing Director, APAC, based in Hong Kong and leading the business across the region. Milet has more than twenty years’ MR experience. Since 2005, he has held senior positions at WPP-owned research technology and panels firm GMI (Global Market Insite), most recently based in Sydney, and responsible for sales, operations, customer service, and panel management across the Asia Pacific region.
Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has appointed Dr Sumit Chowdhury as Technical Advisor, as it prepares for the launch its new audience measurement system next month. BARC is backed by the Indian Broadcasting Foundation, the Advertising Agencies Association of India, and the Indian Society of Advertisers, and was formed to oversee and control the television audience measurement system in India. Dr Sumit D Chowdhury is the Founder of Gaia Smart Cities, an M2M/IOT company focused on telecom and ICT solutions for smart cities. Until recently, he was a President of Reliance Jio where he was initially the CIO and then establishing their Enterprise business.
Macromill, a global provider of consumer insights and marketing analytics solutions has announced two executive appointments. The Japanese-based online specialist has appointed IBM veteran Kuniko Ogawa as Chief Technology Officer and former General Electric executive Teruaki Kido as Chief Financial Officer.
Sports marketing research specialist Repucom has appointed former SAP exec Claude Ringuet as its Head of Consulting for Asia. He will be based in Singapore, where he has lived for the past thirteen years. Ringuet joins from SAP Asia Pacific, where he served as the region’s VP Consumer Industries.
